The organization strives to work with the marginalized communities in the areas of economic and social empowerment using a participatory approach aimed at supporting people to overcome poverty and vulnerability through development of sustainable enterprises.
In the next five years HiH EA seeks to amplify enterprise development impact by doubling the reach on the number of people in East Africa, and enhance their resilience and increase their profitability from $2 to $8 per day.

Our world has seen centuries of women protesting against gender-based discrimination, pushing for changes in laws, customs, and social practices that hinder their progress.
In Kenya, girls and women possess immense potential, yet they face challenges in decision-making, economic opportunities, and various other areas due to the prevailing patriarchal society. Hand in Hand Eastern Africa (HiH-EA) acknowledges this and has initiated a Gender Advocacy Program to tackle gender disparities in its projects.

Value Chain Development
Hand in Hand Eastern Africa has been working towards equipping smallholder farmers with business skills, good agricultural practices, access to credit, facilitate access to markets and other forms of support to enable transition from subsistence agriculture to running profitable agribusiness hence increasing their income to above $2 per day.
